Broadstairs 1st XI cruised to an 8-wicket victory away to Walmer CC in the first of the return fixtures in this season’s East Kent NHS Heroes Division 2.

In reply, Broadstairs reached the target with 5 overs and 8 wickets to spare. The runs were shared amongst the top four batsmen Alex Hogben 49, Tom Marshall 16, Elliot Fox 43* and Matt Frewin 32*. Next week, Broadstairs host Whitstable CC, hoping to repeat the victory they achieved at The Belmont ground earlier in the season.

The match at Walmer followed hot on the heels of an impressive victory the previous evening at home to a strong Sandwich side in the Kent Cricket League T20 competition. Broadstairs successfully defended a score of 159 (Elliot Fox 40, Jamie Dewell 38, Matt Frewin 32), bowling Sandwich out for 141 in the 19th over. The wickets were shared amongst all the bowlers; Matt Frewin, Oli Frewin and Jamie Dewell (2-apiece) and Chris Kidd, Elliot Fox and Nathan Fox (1-apiece) plus a run out Andrew Bailey).
Broadstairs host Folkestone on Friday 28th August in the final fixture of the Group A matches.
