Broadstairs suffered a heavy defeat away to league leaders Leeds & Broomfield in a match that at one stage looked like theirs for the taking. Losing the toss and fielding first, Broadstairs managed to reduce the home side to 109-7 and an easy chase appeared to be on the cards. However, the Leeds & Broomfield tail had other throughts and managed a 58-run stand before the 8th wicket fell. Wickets were shared between Chris Flint (2), George Kidd (2), Nathan Fox (2), Chris Kidd (1), as well as a Harry Kane-like run-out by Tom Marshall. The final total was 182 and on a tricky pitch, this was going to require the Broadstairs batting to be at its best in order to get close to the target.
As it turned out, the response was meek with the side all out for 53 and only Jake Benfield (22) and Tom Marshall (10) reaching double figures.
Results elsewhere in Division 1 went Broadstairs' way and as a result, they are still not out of the promotion race, despite a recent dip if form and fortune. However, they will need to raise their performance both as a bowling- and a batting unit if they are to have any chance of being in contention by the end of the season.
