Unfortunately, a late afternoon downpour thwarted Broadstairs’ chances of converting a strong position in the match at Bromley Common into a second victory of the season. Having lost the toss and invited by the hosts to bat first, Broadstairs reached a total of 213, a very competitive score on a pitch that was offering much in the way of movement and bounce for the bowlers. There was a standout performance from Vaishak Venugopalan (48), ably supported by Matt Hardy (39) and George Kidd (21) in a solid team batting performance.
However, only 5 overs into the Bromley Common innings, with the score on 34-1, play was suspended as the rainclouds rolled-in and Broadstairs had to settle for 10 points from an incomplete match.
Next week, Broadstairs host Championship leaders Bickley Park where they will be back to their full-strength side and looking to test their mettle against the best in the division.
