NEW DATE FOR  2024

OPENING-UP CRICKET – THURSDAY 30th MAY

On Thursday 30th May, Broadstairs CC will be hosting an evening workshop on mental well-being and suicide prevention through cricket. The workshop will be led by Mark Boyns, founder of Opening-Up Cricket (https://openingupcricket.com/), an organisation set-up in response to the death of Sefton Park CC wicket keeper, Alex Miller, and a will to promote positive mental health in sport.

Opening-Up Cricket is run by unpaid volunteers (a combination of current and ex-players/coaches as well as mental health professionals) with help from the National Lottery Community Fund who have provided a grant for sessions costs so that groups can receive them without charge.

The sessions are customised for each club and cover a range of themes including: mental skills & fitness for cricket; wellbeing; looking out for team mates; coping with setbacks; dealing with stress and pressure.

Most Broadstairs CC senior players will be expected to sign-up to attend the session on the 30th May which will run for an hour from 7.30pm in the clubhouse. We would also like to extend the invitation to the wider club - junior players, parents, spectators, ex-players, committee members etc.

If you would like to attend, please email davidfox@vfast.co.uk or text 07804 274081

Thanks very much,

David Fox (Safeguarding Officer, Broadstairs CC)
