Chris Kidd appointed Junior Head Coach

14 Mar 2024

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Kidd as Junior Head Coach for the 2024 season. In this role, Chris will have a key part to play to help players achieve an enhanced level of performance and promote a structure and a culture of continuous improvement across the training programmes.

As Junior Head Coach, Chris will work with existing age-group managers and coaches to ensure the club can continue to deliver a high quality and sustainable junior programme spanning softball sessions for 5-11 year-olds through to U11, U13 and U15 squads. In this role, Chris will also be able to identify players who are ready to participate in senior cricket and help prepare them for a successful transition.

Chris brings with him a wealth of playing experience having been at the club for 35 years, starting in the U13 and U15 sections and progressing rapidly to the 1st XI where he has remained for 32 years. His reputation as a top-class bowler extends across the county and during his senior career, he has notched-up over 600 wickets. His all-round impact on the game was recognised last year by his fellow players when he was awarded the prestigious Kent Cricket League Player of the Season.

Chris is also an experienced sports coach and is currently working with the elite Cricket Academy squad at the Canterbury Academy. In addition, Chris runs the highly successful Thanet Cricket School and is the coach for the Eastern Vikings U14s.

Both as a player and coach, Chris is very well-equipped to help transform the training and development programme within the club and the future looks extremely bright for the Broadstairs CC junior section.

I am sure you would like to join me in congratulating Chris on this appointment and wishing him and the junior section every success for the season.
